But what is it that separates Dominica from other mountain biking destinations?
Apart from its lush valley trails, and scenic ocean views.
What makes Dominica so unique is how everything blends together in perfect harmony.
Just you, your bike, and nature . . . that's the way it's supposed to be. Dominica is the ultimate mountain biking escape. Throw in a little sweat, dirt, some rocks, burning quadriceps, and a volcanic tropical island . . . and you have a totally extreme biking vacation just waiting to happen. Dominica offers a wide variety of mountain biking trails with various levels of difficulty. Trails range from relatively easy to extremely difficult. One of the island's easier trails takes you along the sea coast and through the village of Scott's Head. The path continues along a narrow piece of land (separating the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea)to the top of Scott's Head Peninsula. Once at the top you'll have a beautiful view of view of the bay area, north along the coast, and if the weather is good you can even see the island of Martinique to the south. You can also explore the ruins of Fort Cachacou, built by the British during the seventeenth century. If you are looking a little more of a challenge, try the uphill biking trails leading to the village of Gallion. From there you can enjoy a breath-taking view of Scott's Head and Soufriere Bay. You can also push the envelope along another mountain biking trail that climbs 1000 feet until you reach Bois Cotlette Estate (home to one of the oldest plantation houses on the island).
This gives you the chance to experience the natural beauty of Dominica with fellow bikers. (Great for bonding, and swapping stories!) Mountain Biking tours usually include equipment, lunch and transportation when necessary. In addition to all this, your tour operators will do their very best to make you comfortable. They will also provide you with a wonderful experience filled with pleasant memories that will last a lifetime. Biking in Dominica is a Treat for your Senses: It's the thunderous roar of waterfalls, and the waves washing gently ashore. It's majestic mountains, and fertile valleys filled with various forms of tropical plants, flowers and fruit trees such as . . . It's feeling the ocean breeze on your face as you ride a coastline trail. It's cooling off in one of the islands 365 rivers, and relaxing in one of its natural hot springs. As you can see, biking in Dominica is far more interesting and appealing than your typical biking destinations. I could go on and on about the rain forest trail, the exotic wildlife, the scenic lookouts, and the friendly people, but it's only fair that I leave something for YOU to discover. So what are you waiting for? Plan your mountain biking vacation today, and experience nature like you've never seen it before. P.S. Would you like to share your stories with fellow mountain bikers?
